Homeless man killed in garbage truck accident in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Officials say a homeless man has died after he got trapped in a garbage truck in Allentown.

It happened around 6:00 Friday morning in the 700 block of Hamilton Street.

Authorities say a crew was collecting trash when they heard noise and yelling from the back of the truck.

When they went to check, they saw the man's hand sticking out from the back of the truck.

The victim was buried in trash and got stuck in the trash compacter.

He was freed and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Officials in Allentown are investigating this as a tragic accident.
