UNIVERSITY CITY (WPVI) -- Protestors rallied at the University of Pennsylvania due to the school's alleged abuse of its lab animals.
Dozens of activists stood outside the University City campus chanting, holding signs, and passing out flyers.
The activists say they want the school to be fined for their blatant disregard of the Animal Welfare act.
They claim a monkey was severely burned and five pigs sustained head injuries.
In a statement released to Action News, the school said they are committed to maintaining the highest standard of care for animals.
They added that biomedical research at Penn is conducted in accordance with all federal laws, regulations and guidelines for the humane care and treatment of laboratory animals.
