PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is responding to new rumors that Pope Francis will visit Philadelphia.
On Thursday, the Pontiff reportedly told a journalist he will be coming to the City of Brotherly Love for the World Meeting of Families in 2015.
However the Archdiocese has issued the following statement to Action News:
Last month, reports of the Pope's trip to Philadelphia started circulating after an article was posted on Catholicnews.com.
According to that report, Archbishop Charles Chaput - while speaking in Fargo, North Dakota - said Pope Francis accepted his invitation to come to Philadelphia next year for the World Meeting of Families.
However, the Vatican reiterated that no travel plans have been made and there is no confirmation of the Pope's visit.
