CDC releases Great Lakes pollution report

Under pressure from Congress, the government has released a controversial draft report on pollution in the Great Lakes states. It suggests pollution in some counties is causing health problems. The report is by scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But CDC administrators say some of the science is weak.

CDC officials say they only released it to address accusations of a cover-up. They have asked an independent scientific advisory organization, the Institute of Medicine, to review it.
