Meanwhile, the Saint Joseph's Hawks were sweating their fate, but the tournament committee has invited the Hawks back to the ball. They will face Oklahoma in Birmingham Alabama in the first round of the East Region on Friday.
Despite a rocky road this season the Villanova Wildcats are also going to the tournament. The Wildcats, one of eight Big East squads in the tournament, secured a number 12 seed and will take on the 5th seeded Clemson Tigers in the Midwest Region opening round Friday in Tampa, Florida.
These three local teams will compete with 62 others for the national championship on April 7th in San Antonio. The number one seeds also hoping to make it to the Alamo Dome are Memphis, North Carolina, Kansas, and UCLA.
