A fifth grade teacher in southern New Jersey has been arrested for the sex assault of two students. Cape May County prosecutors say Paul Schirmer inappropriately touched two Middle Township students under his supervision. One of the incidents allegedly happened inside an elementary school.

Paul Schirmer has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of endangering children.

Schirmer is suspended from the school without pay, pending an ongoing investigation.

He is being held at a Cape May County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Prosecutors don't yet know if he has retained an attorney.
