A 13-year-old student has been charged with setting another student's hair on fire at a middle school. The 13-year-old allegedly used a lighter to ignite a female student's hair, the State Fire Marshal's office said. The incident occurred on Monday at Kirk Middle School.

The female student suffered first- and second-degree burns to her neck.

The Fire Marshal arrested the youth on Tuesday and charged him with reckless burning, assault, and reckless endangering. He was released to his mother on a $1,500 unsecured bail and suspenced from school.
