Over two-dozen abused puppies were rescued from a Burlington County home over the weekend, officials said. The 28 puppies were removed from the Franklinville home of 57-year-old William Roberts.

Authorities executing a warrant found the pups in a basement closet crowded in five cages.

They were all taken to the Columbus Veterinary Hospital.

20 have been placed in foster homes.

8 remain at the hospital.

Roberts faces fourth degree animal cruelty charges.
