Bringing gymnastics to Philly's kids

Olympic gymnastics trials start this week in Philadelphia. Here's a program for the city's kids.

Every Tuesday evening at the Sayre-Morris Recreation center in West Philadelphia, boys ages 5 to 18 are taught various aspects of Gymnastics. It is a free program offered by Team Gattaca, an organization that sponsors men's and women's gymnastics around the country.

Mubarak Abdullah is director of the program. He and his brother who are Philadelphia natives have excelled in the sport.

Mubarak attended the University of Oklahoma on a full athletic scholarship, and so does his brother Taqiy who will graduate in December.

Taqiy is a 9 time All-American and 2007 all around champion. Hopes were high that Taqiy would participate at the 2008 Gymnastics trial in Philadelphia, but a series of injuries prevent him from doing so.
