Weather not to blame for flight delays

NEW DELHI (AP) - June 18, 2008

Officials say jackals, lizards and raptors descended on a runway looking to dry off and warm up after the first monsoon rains hit India's capital.

Their appearance on the runway forced authorities to stop planes from taking off and landing for about an hour.

An airport spokesman says animal welfare crews cleared the runway of wildlife that included monitor lizards measuring as long as three feet.
