School bathroom makeover, for transvestites

Some students at a secondary school in rural Thailand are asking school officials to redecorate their bathrooms by painting the doors pink and planting purple flowers nearby.

But it's not the girls' or boys' rooms.

It's the new transvestites' bathroom they'd like to have redone.

A survey determined that more than 200 of the school's 2,600 students consider themselves transvestites.

So authorities decided to set up restrooms to accommodate them.

They're marked by a sign with an image of a human figure split into half a man in blue and half a woman in red.
