Police officer hurt in 2-car crash

New Castle County police say an officer has been injured in a two-vehicle crash on Philadelphia Pike. Police spokesman Corporal Trinidad Navarro says the officer was traveling south on Philadelphia Pike about 4:15 p.m. Thursday when another car tried to make a turn. The other vehicle struck the patrol car at Beeson Road.

Authorities said the injured officer used a mechanism that signals for help. The officer was taken to Christiana Hospital for a possible neck injury. The driver of the other car was not hurt.
