Delawareans are ready to lend a hand as the Gulf Coast prepares for Hurricane Gustav. The Delaware Air National Guard and the Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula sent personnel and supplies to the Gulf Coast on Friday.

The Red Cross is sending its emergency response vehicle and 30 volunteers to Montgomery, Ala., where they'll meet up with other volunteers awaiting orders if the storm makes landfall.

A group of 14 airmen with the Delaware Air National Guard's aeromedical evacuation squadron deployed to the Texas coast to prepare for emergency evacuations. The unit is capable of airlifting people and providing immediate medical treatment in the air.
