Death toll rises in Haiti school collapse

A teacher at a hillside school in Haiti whose collapse has killed at least 30 people says the building was poorly reconstructed after it partly fell down eight years ago. French teacher Jinny Germain says neighbors just downhill from La Promesse College moved away fearing the three-story building could fall down on them.

The concrete building collapsed during classes on Friday, killing at least 30 people and injuring many more students. Some have been pulled bleeding from the rubble.

More children are believed to be buried in the broken concrete. Rescuers are using bare hands and hand tools to get to them.
