88-year-old woman carjacked by helper

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - November 8, 2008 It happened around 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the 2100 block of Bleigh Avenue.

Police say the woman was leaving the Pathmark supermarket when a man came up to her to assist her with her groceries.

Police say the woman agreed to give the man a ride to Castor Avenue.

After they drove off, the man punched the woman in the face and took off with her car.

The woman was not seriously hurt, but the suspect took off with the woman's 1998 tanned Geo Prism with PA tags FHP-9937.

The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, 5' 8", medium build and believed to be in his fifties.
