ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - November 18, 2008
Lehigh County officials plan to meet with contractors Tuesday
about working on the bridge connecting Whitehall Township in Lehigh
County with North Catasauqua in Northampton County. Capital
projects director Glenn Solt says he doesn't repairs to be finished
before 2013.
The bridge closed after a car crashed into the side and nearly
went in the river Saturday night. But plans were already in the
works for $13 million worth of work.
The steel truss bridge is about a century old and was rated one
of the worst in the state in 2007.
Motorists are using the nearby Pine Street and
Coplay-Northampton bridges.
