A water main ruptured below the 83-hundred block of Mansfield Avenue about daybreak this morning.
Torrents of water began rushing down the street, where it intersects with Mount Airy Avenue.
Police have shutdown this area and some roads nearby, fearing the water will turn the roads into sheets of ice.
The water department is on scene trying to repair the main.
