They were in all stages of growth.
Police were tipped off to the growing operation last night when a 21-year-old woman who lives in the house called police reporting an intruder.
"The house was checked, nothing was found, the officers then checked the basement, and discovered it was a large indoor marijuana growing operation," New Britain Police Chief Robert Scafidi said.
The young woman's boyfriend who owns the house returned late last night, only to find police armed with a search warrant.
The alleged cultivator then made a poor attempt to escape police.
"He was being talked to by the officers outside and he decided to take off running; it was a quick foot chase. He was apprehended and placed under arrest for possession of marijuana," Scafidi said.
Neighbors say in years past the home was party central, but in recent years, the owner had kept to himself.
"When he had a teenage son here there were always a lot of parties going on and kids in and out all hours of the night, but that was about it," neighbor Cathy Dando said.
"Quiet guy, didn't cut his lawn as much as most of us around here, but other than that no problems," neighbor Greg Rissinger said.
According to New Britain Police, Horsch received numerous charges including Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance and Attempt to Sell.
The police chief also confirmed Horsch was involved with several different companies and produced "fetish" porn movies. There is no indication that these movies involved children and according to police, were just "bizarre."
