Town divided by Phillies, Yankees

EASTON, Pa. – October 27, 2009

2009 WORLD SERIES

  • WORLD SERIES POLL - Who will win the 2009 World Series?
  • Some say it's a match made in heaven. And baseball fans in Easton can't wait. This is a town where sports lovers are divided between NY and Philadelphia and they don't mind telling you where they stand!

"I hate the Yankees. The Phillies have a lot of heart. I just don't think anybody could beat them right now," said Alice Loebsack.

"Well I'm from New Jersey okay? I never liked Philadelphia so I'm rooting for the Yankees to win," said Rusty Rogora.

As the headline in the local paper put it the stage is set for a world series that pits Broad Street against Broadway.

"It's gotta be the Phillies. They're the hometown boys. Although it's a dispute my wife is from NY so we have that going on," said John Bell.

"The Yankees all the way," said Rajhn Eley.

"I think our lineup has more depth than the Yankees. You got Rollins, Victorino, Utley, Howard, Werth, Ruiz, Feliz. You hear about the Yankees all the time. What about the Phils? We're the defending champs, they're not," said Tommy Kern.

At Josie's New York Deli downtown they were serving up predictions along with the sandwiches and salads. By midweek everyone may have indigestion!

"I'm a fan of the Yankees because I love New York and I just think they're a better team and I think they're gonna win," said Dora Elias.

"Everybody keeps saying the Yankees are the best and when you beat the best you really are the best," said Bill Shafer.
