Dan McLeod tells a local paper he thought it was a joke when a masked man walked in and demanded cash.
The 75-year-old McLeod says he was scared as the robber threatened to kill him.
But McLeod says he figured he could take the guy when he saw his weapon -- a small wrench.
McLeod grabbed a broomstick and hit the man several times.
A co-worker calls McLeod "pretty salty."
Police are still looking for the suspect.
