Judith and Mitchell Fletcher paid eight bucks for what they figured would be a good, scary display.
But when they got the box home from a Florida yard sale, they realized they had bought a real human skeleton.
Detectives from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office have taken the bones to the medical examiner.
Authorities say the skeleton was professionally prepared and is the type used in medical courses.
Detectives are contacting area colleges and universities to see if any of their skeletons are missing.
Authorities note it's illegal under state law for individuals to own human skeletons, so the Fletchers won't get the bones back.
