He says he's trying to prove it doesn't matter what you eat. What matter is how much you eat.
Mark Haub at Kansas State University lost 27 pounds in 2 months on what some people are calling "The Twinkie Diet."
Haub eats meat, vegetables, and fruit - but he also loves junk food. So that's what he mostly ate. He documented it all. "Let's see what I had yesterday, or the day before that," Haub says as he examines his journal. "Zingers, Nestle Crunch bar, Kit Kat. I've talked to people from Ireland, Norway, India. You know, it's been a global experience."
Still Haub limited himself to 1,800 calories a day. Before his experiment he was eating 3,000 calories a day.
Naturally his weight went down, but so did his bad cholesterol and his good cholesterol went up.
Still despite these results, Haub does not recommend the diet to others.
