The accident happened shorlty after 2:00 p.m. on Route 40 eastbound at Walther Road.
The vehicle struck a utility pole and landed in a roadside ditch.
The 52-year-old female driver was trapped in her vehicle for approximately 25 minutes.
She was transported to Christiana Hospital for evaluation and treatment of head injuries according to New Castle County officials.
