Crews prepare the Linc for Sunday Showdown

PHILADELPHIA - January 8, 2011

"We just want the fans to come in and worry about cheering for the game that's it," said Jason Miller.

So the crew at Lincoln Financial Field fanned out across the stadium row by row, seat by seat treating surfaces and dusting off seats ahead the Eagles' game against the Packers.

Not only do the seats get special attention, but of course the field, which has been tarped and then plowed.

The crew is well equipped to handle the several inches of snow dropped by this weekend's storm.

"Last year we had 24 inches before the San Francisco game, a few weeks ago we had the blizzard where we had a foot before the game. So this one was a little easier to control and a little easier to maintain, and again, the field will be in great shape tomorrow, and it will make for a great football game," said Tony Leonard.

But it was play, not work over in Blackwood, New Jersey where families hit the hills for some night-sledding.

"Nobody's here. We're the only ones here. That's the best part," said one sledder.

A fast ride soaring down and a tow rope to help with the way back up. One slope not just reserved for sleds but a smooth ride for snow-boards as well.

Nearby on Hillcrest, some neighbors waited until nightfall to pick up their shovels, but they made quick work of it.

Out on the roads, a good coating covered many of the secondary street surfaces. Still plows were out into the evening; one operator taking his son along for the ride as he reaped the benefits of another storm.

"I didn't think we were going to get a lot this year. I thought the Farmer's Almanac said 12 to 14 inches, you know, we would have a mild winter, but so far it hasn't been mild," said plow driver, Brian Amanto.
