A Philadelphia police officer was arrested Tuesday after authorities say he punched his estranged wife in the face.

Police say the incident occurred on Saturday, February 19, 2011 inside a pub located on the 7600 block of Frankford Avenue.

On that day, authorities say Officer James Graber Jr., who was off duty, engaged in a verbal disturbance with his estranged wife.

Graber was escorted from the establishment by on premise security to only return sometime later and punch his wife in the face.

After an investigation by the Department's Internal Affairs Bureau and the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, Graber was charged with Simple Assault and Reckless Endangering another Person.

Officer James Graber Jr. is 36-years-old and an 11-year veteran of the Department, assigned to the Bomb Disposal Unit.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey has suspended the officer for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
