Fans supporting both teams will be able to purchase tickets for $10 apiece at PPL Park. Tickets will not be sold in advance. All money will then be donated to Chester City United, the City of Chester's own club soccer team. Consisting of various youth organizations, Chester City United is committed to bringing the beautiful game to life in Chester and providing a positive social outlet for the area's youth.
"We're very excited to play in the inaugural River Cup Charity Shield with the Philadelphia Union staff," said Matt Ansbro, Sons of Ben Vice President. "After all those matches testing our vocal cords at PPL Park, it's now our turn to be out on the pitch, show our skills in front of the crowd, and prove to the Union we can pull out the win. What is more exciting, though, is that this game will give us another chance to give back to the Chester community, a tradition we've followed since the beginning and are thrilled to continue with this event."
The Union and the Sons of Ben will work closely in the organization of the inaugural River Cup. The match will consist of two 30-minute halves, with penalty kicks immediately following in the event of a tie after regulation. The winning team will be presented with the inaugural River Cup trophy following the match. Additionally, a Man of the Match will be named. Further details, including rosters and coaches, will be released in the near future.
