Firefighters battle blaze in NJ state forest

BATSTO, N.J. (AP) - June 10, 2011

Broadcast reports say the fire has burned about 40 acres of the Wharton State Forest, about 25 miles northwest of Atlantic City, on Friday.

Department of Environmental Protection spokesman Larry Hajna said firefighters planned to establish a perimeter around a 200-acre section of the forest and let the fire burn itself out within that area.

No injuries have been reported and no structures are threatened.
