Man killed by minivan after fight at Toledo gas station

TOLEDO, OH This is posted on Adam York's Facebook page: "At 10:30 on June 11th, my dad stood up to a guy who had done wrong, and unfortunately, at the wrong place at the wrong time, my father was taken from me. In my eyes, you are a hero, I love you dad. R.I.P. Randall Dean York."

Joey Bailey offers sympathy, "That's worse than sad. That's tragic."

Diana Liwo said, "I just feel sorry for his family. He wanted to help and look what happened."

Police say a male suspect assaulted another person in the Speedway parking lot. He then tried to flee the scene in a mini van-driven by his dad Geoffrey Dupuis. York tried to stop them from fleeing. Witnesses say Dupuis floored it, hitting York.

According to police, the victim was dragged underneath the vehicle, across the parking lot. He died as a result of his injuries. "That's tragedy. Tragedy. I don't know what else to say. This day and age, you don't know what to expect," said Liwo.

Dupuis is behind bars, charged with murder as the community tries to make sense of this senseless act. "You want to help people when they're in trouble. If you do, that might be it for you," said Liwo.

Police have not commented on whether or not the suspect's son was arrested or charged. They did say several people were taken into custody for questioning.
