Item stolen from your car? Police may have it

PHILADELPHIA - August 5, 2011

Investigators say it was a "theft from auto" ring that stretched from Northeast Philadelphia into Bensalem, Bucks County.

Michael Mager, 31, of the 6600 block of Jackson Avenue and Ryan Shantz, 30, of the 4400 block of Pearson Avenue are both facing numerous charges.

Investigators say their three-month investigation gave them enough evidence to charge them with 61 counts of theft.

Police say they also discovered a "fencing" operation utilizing the "Cash for Gold" store located at 6907 Torresdale Ave.

Search warrants were executed at this business and, police say, more than $100,000 worth of stolen items were recovered.

Police will display the recovered items for victims to claim their property.

On display will be numerous power tools and electronic devices including laptop computers, monitors, printers, digital cameras, GPS devices, Xbox 360s, PlayStations, Nintendo Wii video game systems, cellular telephones, musical instruments, contractor tools, air conditioners, snow blowers, pressure washers, lawn equipment, step ladders, and more.

Anyone who was a victim of a burglary or theft from auto in Northeast Philadelphia and Bensalem in 2011 is encouraged to attend.
