Bad handwriting foils bank robbery

NEW CASTLE, Del. - October 10, 2011

It was around 2:50 p.m. on Saturday when, police say, 40-year-old Thomas J. Love entered the WSFS Bank in the Crossroads Shopping Center in New Castle, Delaware.

Police say Love approached a bank teller and handed her a demand note written on a deposit slip.

However, the teller couldn't read what was written, so she handed it back and asked that it be re-written.

That's when Love fled the bank, police say, leaving without any money.

Officers later found Love in the area of New Castle Avenue and Rodney Drive and took him into custody.

Thomas J. Love was charged and ordered held on $2,000 cash bond.
