10,000 without power in NJ a week after snowstorm

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - November 5, 2011

But officials say all of them should get their power back sometime this weekend.

Jersey Central Power & Light hopes to restore service to all of its remaining 9,000 customers by midnight Sunday, while PSE&G says its roughly 1,000 customers still without electricity should have it back by late Saturday night.

About 100 Orange and Rockland customers were still without power Saturday afternoon. But the utility says all service should be restored by Saturday night.

The utilities say repairing a large number of single lines from the poles to homes and businesses still poses the greatest challenge.

At the storm's peak, about 700,000 customers were without power in New Jersey.
