Mom and Daughter Babs and Natalie of Drexel Hill, Pa., were among the thousands of shoppers looking for last-minute deals today at the King of Prussia Mall.
They said they found deals that were better than those offered on Black Friday.
Retailers estimate that some 40% of shoppers will make a last-minute holiday purchase. And rather than punish procrastinators, they're trying lure them in with big, late-season discounts.
Kate Johnson, of the King of Prussia Mall, says, "There are still a lot of bargains to be had. We're noticing deep discounts at a lot of the stores. Abercrombie, American Eagle, Justice, all have 40% off. The Gap, we're noticing 60%. Some other places are doing 60-70% discounts on certain items." Banana Republic and Hollister are both offering 40% off right through Christmas Eve.
And because other stores are reportedly planning additional Christmas Eve sales, King of Prussia Mall has a "HolidayHomeStretch" Twitter team tweeting new deals as they find them.
Of course, gift cards are always good last-minute option -- and if the recipients use them at the expected after-Christmas sales, they can really stretch their value.
Deals aren't limited to the mall.
Kohl's is offering a printable coupon for 15%-20% off in-store purchases between now and Saturday. And Restaurant.com is offering $25 restaurant gift certificates for just $1, also through Christmas Eve, with the code JOY.
