Officials: Kensington factory cited for safety violations

Flames broke out just before 3:15 a.m. Monday inside the abandoned Thomas Buck Hosiery Factory, located near the intersection of Jasper and York Streets in Philadelphia's Kensington section. It took firefighters approximately two hours to place the 5-alarm blaze under control. Two firefighters were killed and another two injured battling a fire inside a furniture store at the intersection of Kensington Avenue and E Boston Street, located adjacent to the burning warehouse. Fire officials suspect embers from the warehouse are to blame for the store fire.
