Mom killed, 5-year-old injured in Southwest Philadelphia shooting

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - September 25, 2012

The shooting happened around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday in the 7300 block of Theodore Street.

Sources tell Action News that the 31-year-old woman from Delaware, and her 5-year-old daughter, were in front of the home of the child's father to pick him up and take him to a halfway house.

The father started walking to the car, where the mother and daughter were sitting, when someone opened fire, killing the woman.

The girl was injured by a stray bullet. She was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with a graze wound.

There no word yet on any suspects in this shooting.
