Del. school district worker charged with theft

HOUSTON, Del. - October 13, 2012

Frederic J. Snowden, of Houston, was charged with felony theft on Friday, accused of stealing from the Milford School District. Snowden is now on leave from his job as the district's superintendent of building and grounds.

The News Journal of Wilmington says the charge is part of an ongoing probe into the school district's finances. The newspaper says it was unable to reach Snowden.

Police say Snowden failed to turn over to the district more than $2,300 that came from a high school renovation project.

Police say he used the money on an unauthorized barbecue for school district staff, as well as Gatorade and a cooler and gas for his personal vehicle.
