Student struck by 2 cars, killed in Cheltenham, Montgomery Co.

CHELTENHAM, Pa. - October 17, 2012

A message from the superintendent's office said the ninth-grade student, Dajanique Brown-Rogers, was struck while on her way to school.

Police tell Action News that Brown-Rogers saw her school bus coming down the street at 6:50 a.m. and tried to cross New 2nd Street and Clarion Avenue to get to the bus stop.

On the way she was hit by one car, sending her into another lane. She was then hit by a second car.

Brown-Rogers was rushed to the hospital but later died.

The news was delivered to students at 10:45 a.m. "via face-to-face communication delivered to homeroom classes by District counselors, CHS Administrators and CHS Department Coordinators."

Superintendent Darlene Davis said the district will deliver appropriate individual and group grief counseling.

"We, as a District, will do everything in our power to fully assist the Brown-Rogers family and will continue to provide emotional support to all members of our District during this very difficult time," said Superintendent Davis.

An investigation into the circumstances of this crash continues.
