Just about everyone loves getting something for nothing. But what are the best ways to get freebies without getting ripped off? We asked an expert.

"I haven't paid for toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, razors, most shampoos, in a good 4-5 years," says Moms Need to Know Blogger Mindi Cherry.

Cherry spends time each week hunting down freebies for her readers, but she says anyone can get the deals she finds, if you just know a few tricks.

She explains, "One of the best places to get freebies, for your toiletries, for example, would be the drug stores becuase they all have their own rewards plans and each week, there's at least one or two items you can get for free, after a coupon you use and the rewards plan."

Cherry lists the deals on her site, so you don't have to find them yourself.

She says it's also easy to get free food from many of your favorite restaurants.

"One of the first things you need to do is sign up for a separate email address, so you can funnel all of your freebies to your email address. And then you go to the websites of your favorite products and resturants and sign up for their email lists," Cherry explains.

Also, "Like" your favorite spots on Facebook.

"Go to the Facebook pages of your favorite brands or companies, they give out a lot of freebies," Cherry says. "They'll ususally announce it a couple of days ahead of time that they're going to give it out."

And, don't forget to look for freebies when you're on the go.

Cherry says, "One of the things I really like to use are apps for your cell phone -- things like FourSquare or Facebook check-in, where if you check in, you can get maybe a free drink a free gift with purchase, extra percentage off, a discount ."
