Dog shot in Northeast Philadelphia home invasion

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - August 14, 2013

Police were called around 4:00 a.m. to the Frankford Terrace apartments in the 8200 block of Frankford Avenue.

They say a 27-year-old resident was asleep when he heard a knock at his door and when he answered, three to four men forced their way into the apartment.

The resident let his dog loose and when the dog went after the suspects, they fired shots.

The dog was struck several times in the face but remains alive.

Meanwhile, the resident who was naked jumped over the balcony to escape.

The apartment was ransacked but it's not clear what was taken.

Animal control was called in to assist with the dog.

The suspects are described as three to four black males, two armed and all wearing ski masks and one wearing a hoodie.
