It was 7:00 p.m. Sunday when police responded to the Wegmans Food Market on Route 70 for the report of two shoplifters running from the store. Arriving officers arrested the female suspects in the store parking lot and took them into custody.
The suspects, 24-year-old Kristi Kline of Wilmington, Delaware and 30-year-old Christine Frater of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, were charged with Shoplifting, Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Stolen Property.
The investigation revealed that the women were allegedly concealing merchandise in a shopping cart. Also in the cart was Kline's 8-month-old son.
When the women were confronted by Wegmans' loss prevention staff, the suspects allegedly ran from the store, leaving behind the shopping cart and the baby.
Police say in addition to the other offenses, Kline was also charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
