Eric Maltz of Princeton entered his pleas during a court hearing on Tuesday. He also faces counts of death by auto and assault by auto, and could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
Mercer County prosecutors say the 21-year-old Maltz was speeding and driving recklessly in March 2012 when he crossed lanes and struck an unoccupied car. That car then careened into a Prius that 74-year-old Rabbi James Diamond was getting into on the passenger side.
Diamond was pronounced dead at the scene. The Prius driver was seriously injured.
