On wheel after wheel, rims were bent and tires were blown out. Drivers are now checking to make sure their cars are aligned properly.
The pot hole in the outer northbound lane of City Avenue by Overbrook Parkway flattened tires on at least a dozen vehicles Monday morning.
The nearby City Avenue Shopping Center in Overbrook turned into a car recovery lot as damage was assessed and flats changed.
Our cameras captured a Cadillac being loaded onto a flatbed to be taken to the dealership.
Another man had to stop to collect two hubcaps in the road which flew off from the force.
Police were out taking statements. Drivers say one officer put out a cone in the pothole but cars still kept slamming into it. Then shortly before 10:00 a.m. an officer positioned his cruiser in front of the pothole.
Just before noon PennDOT crews arrived on the scene to fill in the pothole, along with others found on City Avenue.
This is, of course, the season for potholes, with the changes in weather, salting and snow plowing wage a heavy toll on roadways.
PennDOT says if you find a pothole on one of their roadways you can call 1-800-FIX-ROAD.
