It happened at 11:06 p.m. Sunday on the Black Horse Pike near Tilton Road in Egg Harbor Township.
Police say the driver, German G. Gomez-Miralda, 40, was speeding and lost control.
The SUV rolled over several times before landing on its roof in a wooded area.
Gomez-Miralda was being treated at AtlantiCare City Campus Trauma Center.
Traffic was detoured for about two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
