A 14-year-old pedestrian was rushed to the hospital after he was hit by a car in Bensalem on Friday.

The crash happened at 11:10 a.m. in the 2100 block of Street Road near Bensalem Plaza.

Bensalem Police say the victim was among a group of several teens who were walking westbound on the eastbound lane shoulder.

Investigators say the striking car hit a snow embankment, then struck the teenager.

The driver of that car tried to flee, police say, but was blocked by several other drivers.

The teen who was struck was hospitalized with multiple broken bones and was last reported to be in stable condition.

Drugs and or alcohol have not been ruled out as a potential factor in the accident, police said.

Bensalem Police ask that any witnesses call Bensalem Detective Oliverio or Ofc. Jack Reheil at 215-633-3719.
