The fire broke out around 9:20 a.m. Thursday on the 100 block of Hansberry Street.
Flames were reported on the third floor of an apartment building.
Crews were able to get the fire under control, but one person was pronounced dead.
Four people were also displaced.
A cause of the fire is under investigation.
