Pedestrian struck and critically wounded in Port Richmond

Police say a pedestrian was struck and critically wounded in the city's Port Richmond section early Saturday morning.

The accident happened around 12:15 a.m. on the 3200 block of Richmond Street.

According to police, the victim, a man in his 60's stepped off the curb and was hit by a Toyota vehicle travelling north.

They say the impact of the crash sent the man into the windshield of the striking vehicle.

Medics rushed the man to Temple Hospital with serious head injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and so far, there are no charges.

The incident is under investigation.
