It happened around 4:50 Tuesday afternoon on Avalon Boulevard.
Authorities say a silver minivan, driven by 51-year-old Jack Brian Smith, was travelling east when the vehicle crossed the center lane and struck a green Jeep Wrangler.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, 61-year-old Addison Jones, was taken to Atlantic Care Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
