A suspicious package prompted authorities to evacuate a municipal building in Burlington County.

At 5:40 a.m. Thursday, an Evesham police officer located a suspicious package in the lobby area of the Municipal Complex.

Police say the suspicious package was addressed to the Evesham Municipal Court Judge and had wires protruding from the side, appearing to be a bomb.

As a precaution, police evacuated the complex, closed New Road, and called the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad.

Once on the scene, the bomb squad detonated the package and deemed the device not to be an explosive.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Evesham Police Department at 856-983-1116.
