TRAINER, Pa. -- Heavily armed SWAT officers roamed the streets of a Delaware County neighborhood Thursday night and brought armored vehicles for protection during a tense standoff.
Action News was told child welfare workers paid a visit to a home in Trainer, Pa. at Plaza and Spruce Streets around 4:00 p.m.
That's when a woman barricaded herself and her two children, ages 3 and 4.
She allegedly threatened to kill anyone trying to take her kids.
"Children and Youth Services were not trying to take away her children. They were just visiting her. Unfortunately for this woman, she had just lost her husband in June, so she's had some difficult times," Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan said.
The standoff lasted around three hours when SWAT entered the home and she surrendered peacefully.
Officials say the children are safe.
