Charred human remains found in burning North Philly lot

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are on the scene of where human remains were discovered after a fire on a lot in North Philadelphia.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Friday near the intersection of 17th Street and Allegheny Avenue.

Firefighters were called to the area after a report of a fire in an empty lot.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze, only to discover what appears to be charred human remains.

An investigation continues.
