HOCKESSIN, Del. -- A Delaware man convicted of fatally stabbing a psychiatrist who once treated him has been sentenced to life in prison.
Christopher Frick pleaded guilty but mentally in September in killing of 55-year-old Caroline Ekong. The Wilmington News Journal reports that Frick was sentenced Friday to life in prison, plus 25 years.
Authorities have said he plotted Ekong's death for at least a year. They say Frick was mad that Ekong refused to let him leave a psychiatric facility.
Frick apologized Friday and said he wishes he could take it back. Three mental health experts concluded in separate reports that Frick suffers from a host of mental disorders. His plea means that he will receive psychiatric treatment while incarcerated.
Ekong's daughter, Koko Ekong, said Friday that her mother was a "woman of integrity."
